Aquis Australia is a highly diversified investment and development business controlled by the Hong Kong based Fung family. The company has interests across a range of economic sectors including entertainment, real estate and horse racing. It controls a number of operating businesses and is currently developing plans for a range of exciting new developments.
Aquis Chairman Tony Fung has more than 40 years experience in global financial services and investment, including more than 15 years as an active investor in Australia.
Mr Fung managed the family’s financial services business Sun Hang Kai & Co until its sale in 1985. Since the sale Mr Fung has operated as a private investor focussing primarily on Hong Kong commercial property and other property-linked investments.
His tourism development experience includes the Asia World-Expo exhibition centre at Hong Kong International Airport. The family’s Australian interests are managed by Justin Fung and a team of experienced executives.

Aquis Australia is developing a new $440 million hotel on a prime beachfront position in Surfers Paradise that will become a benchmark for luxury accommodation in the Asia Pacific region and attract a new generation of well-heeled travellers to the Gold Coast. The current tower will be demolished to make way for a 48-storey complex that will include 580 hotel rooms and suites as well as the Gold Coast’s premier dining and entertainment facilities.
Located in the heart of Australia’s capital Casino Canberra is the city’s major entertainment and nightlife venue. Aquis is currently progressing a $330 million upgrade to the complex including a six-star hotel, a 100-suite, five-star hotel as well as new bars, cafes and restaurants and promenade-style shopping precinct featuring some of the world’ leading brands. Casino Canberra is owned by the ASX-listed Aquis Entertainment Ltd.
A consortium comprising Aquis Australia, CCCC International Holding Limited (CCCI) and Tandellan Group has acquired a prime development site in central Surfers Paradise. The 10,500 sqm site comprises an entire block bordered by the Gold Coast Highway, Palm Avenue, Cypress Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard.
The Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort will be Australia’s largest, most exciting, integrated resort. On completion, Aquis will attract more than 1,000,000 visitors per year to Cairns and Far North Queensland, injecting billions of dollars into the local economy. The resort will compete on the world stage for international and domestic tourists and turn Cairns into one of the world’s top destinations.
