iSelect Titans coach John Cartwright this week wound back the clock and retraced his Penrith roots to pay a special visit to inaugural Panthers coach, Leo “Trappa” Trevena.
Cartwright has known “Trappa” from a young age, with his father Merv a founding member of the Penrith Rugby League club. Trevena also acted as an assistant coach to John when he first entered the lower grades at Penrith.
Trevena had a distinguished career with both Western Suburbs and Canterbury-Bankstown and was a try scorer in Wests 22-12 win over South Sydney in the 1952 Grand Final.
Cartwright said the visit was a great opportunity to help lift the spirits of his former coach and a chance to put a smile on several faces.
