With the Christmas break and festive season behind them, the iSelect Titans today returned to the training paddock – greeted by a beep test in amongst a gruelling session that lasted over two hours.
As has been a key component of the club’s pre-season thus far, putting the kilometres in the legs was again the main aim and Coach John Cartwright was encouraged by both the quality and quantity of his squad’s improvement.
With just over a month to go before the club’s first trial match against the Warriors at Pizzey Park, Cartwright believes changes implemented both on and off the field this off-season have been effective.
“It’s been a different sort of off-season for us, we’ve got some new staff and some new players and we’ve tried to get better and change things up and we’ve certainly done that this year and to me they all seem to be mixing well which is a good sign from a coaching point of view,'' said Cartwright.
"The most important thing for us is that most of the guys are on the field, which we struggled a little bit with before Christmas in getting numbers there but I think we are down to one or two in the full-time rehab squad so that’s the positive for us.’’
