Titans clarify inaccurate reports regarding link to events at Skilled Park

iSelect Titans CEO David May today held a media conference to clarify some inaccurate media reports linking the club to an unknown sample found at Skilled Park.

The club wishes to clarify the following points –

1) Media reports today mentioned that multiple vials of urine were found, when in fact there was a liquid found in one jam jar. The use of the word ‘vial’ gives the impression of the substance having a medical purpose and this is incorrect.

2) Reports claiming the liquid in the jam jar is urine, are not confirmed.

3) The reports that make mention of ‘vials’ being found hidden in the “Titans dressing room” unfairly implicates the club in this matter. There have been at least 45 teams (The Rugby Union 7’s and Rugby Union test match) that have used the same dressing shed since the Titans used it for its last home game of the 2012 season on the 1st of September. The Titans home shed is only that when we are playing there not when other codes and teams are using the facility.

4) The jam jar according to stadium management, appears to be up to 5 years old meaning there have been literally hundreds of teams who have used the dressing sheds in that time. This includes the visiting FFA teams who played Gold Coast United when they were playing out of Skilled Park.

The club wishes to reiterate that we have a zero tolerance policy regarding the use of banned substances. They have no place in our game.

We are proud that we have the highest level of compliance with the NRL’s anti doping program regulated by ASADA.
