The iSelect Titans have put themselves back into finals contention by getting two valuable competition points at ANZ Stadium with a 14-10 victory against fourth-placed South Sydney.

The Titans were behind 8-4 at half-time but tremendous defence in a match marred by 24 penalties, most blown by Ashley Klein in the ruck area, gave them the victory.

It came with a try to winger Kevin Gordon after a Daniel Mortimer kick was spilled by Alex Johnston in the 67th minute. Gordon converted from the left touchline after Mortimer had earlier missed both conversion attempts.

The Titans scored three tries to one and deserved victory against a Souths side that smacked the Titans earlier this season but made far too many errors with the ball.

Among the heroes were the least experienced Titans like Cody Nelson, Tom Kingston and lock Paul Carter who was tireless in defence, pulling off some great hits on the Burgess brothers.

Full report to come.
