The iSelect Titans left nothing in the tank during their final training session at CBus Stadium this morning.
The boys are determined to bring their ‘away-game’ attitude home when they take on the Parramatta Eels at Cbus Super Stadium tomorrow.
Coach John Cartwright and captain Nate Myles are both confident that the Titans can produce the same form that sees them with the best record on the road in 2014 – six wins from eight matches – in front of their loyal home based fans.
“We just have to get in their face, there is no secret plan, you just got to win the tackle, have plenty of line speed, trust and go in hard,” Cartwright said.
Both teams are desperate for the win at CBus Stadium with Nate Myles believing that Jarryd Hayne will be the man to stop.
“He’s a fantastic footballer mate, everyone knows what he brings to any side, when he’s on Parramatta normally get the win,” Myles said
While Hayne is undoubtedly Parramatta’s most threatening player, Cartwright believes the unpredictability of Eels halfback Chris Sandow will be a danger to the Titans.
“Everyone has to be on their toes, you think you know what he’s doing and that’s when you have to be more alert,” Cartwright said.
Myles is also aware that the raw enthusiasm of the young Parramatta forwards will be something to watch.
“They’re young, they’re enthusiastic, they come off the back fence and it’s their turn to run, so it’s just a matter of us preparing the right way and getting out there and doing it,” Myles said.
Cartwright is pleased with team fitness and is proud to charge into tomorrow’s game injury free. Tom Kingston drops of the five-man bench which leaves Matt White, Maurice Blair, Cody Nelson and Mark Ioane.
The two teams are desperate for victory being in the group of four on 20 competition points, two behind four teams above them, but the Eels and Titans have negative for-and-against averages that are not flattering – Gold Coast’s is minus 60 and the Eels minus 102.
The Titans will camp locally tonight, in the hope of bringing recent ‘away’ success back home to Cbus Stadium and Gold Coast fans.
