The first 20 rounds of the 2015 Telstra Premiership have been released and the Titans home game schedule announced is an outstanding result for Gold Coast rugby league fans.
Some of the highlights include no Monday night home games in the first 17 rounds and no daytime home matches until round 7 avoiding the early season heat. This is a windfall for fans as well as players who in recent seasons have had to endure games played in the scorching heat of the seemingly endless Queensland summer.
Titans CEO Graham Annesley said, “We are very grateful the NRL has considered the heat issue for us allowing players and fans to compete and watch in comfort. This is one of the many highlights of the draw and it’s sure to assist the return of big numbers to Cbus Super Stadium in 2015.”
Of our 9 home matches 4 are scheduled for either Saturday and Sunday afternoon and 5 are evening games including a blockbuster against the Broncos on Good Friday to kick off the Easter long weekend.
“This should be a huge game with Titans and Broncos fans able to make their way to the game on a public holiday. Hopefully it will be a sell-out to kick the weekend off”, said Annesley.
It’s also good to see there are no direct clashes with other major sporting codes in the first 20 rounds.
There is a great spread of games throughout the season with home matches scheduled in rounds 1, 3,5,7,10,12,14,15,18,21,24,25 as opposed to recent seasons where we have been allocated numerous back-to-back home and away games.
Annesley said, “It’s a very evenly balanced draw giving everyone the chance to plan their support for the Titans throughout the season”.
Our Round 1 clash against the West Tigers on Saturday 7th March in the cooler twilight timeslot of 6pm should provide a great opening spectacle for fans eager for their first glimpse of the Titans in 2015.
“I’m sure all of our loyal members, sponsors, and corporate supporters can’t wait for the new season to commence”, Annesley concluded.
