Some of the best local league talent will today go into camp for the weekend after being selected in the Queensland under-16s squad after being recognised for their performances in the Cyril Connell Cup this season.

Blake Campbell (Green team), Zac McCormack (Green), Lazeryth Su’a (White) and Tana Boyd (White) have been chosen from the two Gold Coast teams.

Also, Geordie Brand (South Logan Magpies), who is a contracted Titan our elite development program (as is Blake Campbell), has also made the team.

Gold Coast’s Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga coordinator Jamie McCormack said: “It’s a great result for our local program to have four local juniors selected in the Queensland squad after the four boys performed exceptionally well in the Cyril Connell competition.

“It says a lot for the strength our junior competitions and pathways and I trust the boys will get great benefit out of their selection and time in camp where they will learn plenty.”

McCormack was also very happy that Titan junior players Blake Campbell and Geordie Brand had made the team after all the extra work that both players applied to their game over the past 12 months.

Geordie is a no nonsense front-rower with an exceptional fast play the ball.

Blake is a real ‘rover’s dog’ with a massive workrate and while not as big as some player of the same age he is as tough as they come.”
