Aquis Titans co-captain Nathan Friend says keeping possession and giving the big Canberra Raiders pack as little leeway as possible is the key to good performance at Cbus Super Stadium tomorrow.
The courageous little hooker will start off the bench tomorrow with Nathan Peats thrown into the opening exchanges and he is comfortable with that role.
The Raiders have the biggest pack in the NRL, especially with the recent addition of Junior Paulo from Parramatta, and the Titans pack have to curb their go-forward.
They are coming off a six-day turnaround but had a good "oppose" session with Burleigh Bears on Thursday evening in preparation and know that the team is no longer flying under the radar after being written off by some critics before a ball had been kicked in 2016.
"You'd rather be sitting where we are rather than the bottom but we know improvements are needed and where they are and we are working on them," the skipper said.
"This weekend our biggest challenge against a big pack like the Raiders our defence through the middle has to be pretty staunch."
