The Gold Training NYC Titans are out of contention for a finals berth this year after their 36-24 loss to the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium on Saturday.

The young Titans went into the match full of confidence after back-to-back wins and shot out to a 16-10 half-time lead after producing a strong defensive effort in the first-half.

But Ben Woolf’s team was unable to contain the Knights in the second-half with the home-side producing five second-half tries to run away with the match and take the 36-24 victory.

The loss ends any chance Woolf's team had to make the finals but he is still confident the effort will be there against the ladder-leading Panthers this week.

"I think the effort will still be there they are a good group of boys, We had a talk about it after the game and what we still want to achieve, Penrith are the top team and we have got to be up to play them" he said.
