Henry: "We're moving in the right direction"

Aquis Titans Head Coach Neil Henry spoke to media this morning at Currumbin about what lies in store for the club in 2017, with pre-season training to begin later this month.

Henry joined Titans players Kane Elgey, Karl Lawton and rising U20s player Max King at the Stand Up to Domestic Violence Paddleboarding event at Currumbin creek before speaking to media.

Henry, who led the Titans to what many say was an unexpected finals appearance in 2016 said everyone is looking forward to the beginning of pre-season, which will get underway at the Titans brand new state-of-the-art High Performance Facility at Parkwood International later this month.

Here's what the head coach had to say about a number of hot topics regarding the club:

Kevin Proctor signing:

"A great signing for the club, a local boy, went to Palm Beach Currumbin and his partner is also from up this way so he's got a young family now and he was keen to come back. Certainly a player who's done it all, 80 minute footballer, representative footballer and comuing from a very successful club."

How the squad is shaping up for 2017:

"It's been good that we've been able to recruit a few guys, Konrad Hurrell was popualr with a few clubs, KP coming home is great, even signing Jarryd (Hayne) he had a couple of options there and we were able to sell the Coast and club as a [lace that is moving forward.

Nathan Peats, and getting guys like that  getting them to compliment Ryan James, Kane Elgey and Ash Taylor, who will fight with Tyrone Roberts for a starting spot so there is some good depth in the club as well."

The plan to replace key players who have left:

"“We still need to fill a couple of spots within the club. When you look at that, there’s probably 1200 NRL games that have left the club.""

“We’re only bringing in about 400 games and we’ve lost about 1200. So some guys are going to have to step up.”
