Aquis Gold Coast Titans Coach Neil Henry has stated how important the retention of Ryan James is, and what it means for the club.

It was suggested in the media that the 25-year-old had received plenty of interest from a number of clubs and believes this shows that the club is once again on the right track.

“It’s a great day for the club,” Henry said. “He’s one of our senior players, he had a great year last year, played in every game and scored 12 tries.

“This signing is proof we’re on the right track. There was a fair bit of interest elsewhere but to Ryan’s credit, he didn’t field those offers as such, as he wanted to strike a deal here.”

Henry knows how important the signature of James is but members and fans should be confident that many other off-contract players are also hoping to be re-signed in the coming weeks.

“This is the first part of our retention for this year.

“We’ve got a couple of others who are off-contract as well that we’re looking to secure.”
