Aquis Gold Coast Titans Head Coach Neil Henry today spoke of the difficult weekend away the club had with injuries over in New Zealand during the final hit-out before the season proper and also new signing Joe Greenwood.
Without being able to provide full detail on the injuries sustained, Henry gave a brief summary on how long each player is expected to be out.
“It was certainly a hard afternoon for the club,” he said. “I have no real update on Nathan Peats, he’ll have a scan today and although it seems to have settled down a bit, you just never know with a shoulder.
“Pat Politoni has a broken arm so that’s a minimum of 4-5 weeks. Ryan Simpkins has rib cartilage damage, couple of weeks, John Olive, pectoral strain, couple of weeks and the other two (Morgan Boyle and Tyler Cornish) suffered concussion but they’ll be fine.”
Reporters were quick to ask the question as to how the signing of Joe Greenwood had come about, considering he has yet to make his international debut and is a relatively unknown player to most Australians.
“We’ve had an eye on him for a while and is someone actually that Anthony Laffranchi (Football Manager) has seen. We’re not sure when he’ll factor but he’s trained and played over there so we’ll just have to see when he can get here. He might be a chance of being in the 17 next week but I want him to have at least be involved in a couple of sessions.
“We’d seen a bit of him and he’s been on the fringe of the English squad. We chatted to him and he’s keen to test himself.
“It was something we were looking at for next year but we’ve got him now.
