NYC halfback AJ Brimson was yesterday named in the NYC ‘Team of the Year’ and admitted that he was shocked and surprised when he received the call to let him know he had been chosen.

“I was just at work and was quite shocked and excited,” Brimson said.

Brimson was a mainstay in the Titans NYC side in 2017, only missing a small number of games due to a broken hand in the middle part of the season.

Although a season where his side didn’t make the finals, the 19-year-old does take a number of positives to take out of the season.

“We strung together a number of consecutive wins together in the middle of the year and were in a position to play finals but dropped away.

“I think we have a lot of good young talent here at the club which is good sign for the future.”

The Centenary Panthers junior will form part of the full-time squad in preparation for 2018 and is looking forward to the upcoming challenge.

“I’m getting more confident and keep putting on weight.

“I’m excited for it, to have that full-time gig and to be in and around footy all the time will be good.”
