It will be the final time it will be awarded but who will win the NYC ‘Player of the Year’ award at tomorrow night’s Awards Night?
The NYC ‘Player of the Year’ is awarded to the most outstanding and dedicated player, who is reliable, and puts in a strong performance consistently throughout the playing season. Votes are awarded by coaching staff on a ‘3,2,1’ basis with the winner of the player vote being allocated one point to the overall amount each week.
The 2016 winner was Max King who, as we now know, went on to make his NRL debut in Round 3 of this season and eventually played 17 games at the top level.
Will it be halfback AJ Brimson who had a stellar season, scoring 20 tries in his 21 appearances?
Or Phillip Sami, who was rewarded with his good form by playing four matches in the top grade?
Could it be young gun Moeaki Fotuaika? Who at only 17 years of age played 22 of a possible 24 games and also played for the Junior Kiwis earlier in the year.
Maybe Daniel Brownbill? Who played every game of the season and crossed for 16 tries, also averaging over 110m per match.
Is Co-Captain Ethan Roberts a chance for the award? The five-eighth played 22 matches and was the man who controlled it all in the middle of the park.
Coach Ben Woolf will present the award for the final time before he takes up a Head Coach role with the Tweed Seagulls in the Intrust Super Cup. Everyone at the Titans would like to thank Woolf for his service at the club.
