Prop forward Ryan James was yesterday quizzed on whether he still would like to be the main leader of the Gold Coast Titans in 2018.

Newly appointed Head Coach Garth Brennan has stated he will leave the position open until he has an opportunity to get to know every squad member and also to assess the attitude of each individual during pre-season training.

“We haven’t spoken about it,” James said. “I have to go out there this pre-season and put my best foot forward.

“I want to be the leader of the pack.”

The Bilambil junior took on the role in 2017 and whilst he would love the role again, he admits there are a number of leaders in the playing group.

“’ll take it as it comes. We’ve got a few leaders in Peatsy (Nathan Peats) and Kevvie (Proctor), there is also Ash Taylor who recently re-signed and he is someone who has leadership potential.

“Of course I would like the role as a local junior but I need to go out hard this pre-season and see what happens.”
