Affiliation wrap: Improved Jets fall just short of Bears triumph

A herculean effort from Gold Coast forward Joe Stimson wasn't enough to stop the Burleigh Bears from prevailing over the Jets in Sunday's Hostplus Cup clash at Ipswich.

In his second game for the Titans feeder club, the experienced middle forward earned players' player honours topping the tackle count with 32 efforts, alongside 121 running metres across a solid 80 minutes on-field.

Aaron Schoupp also impressed to top the running metres tally with 220, as did Ken Maumalo who made 148 metres - 73 of those post-contact.

After another close performance, Ben Cross' men will now to prepare to face fellow Gold Coast affiliates Tweed on Saturday after the Seagulls enjoyed the bye at the weekend.

This clash a curtain-raiser to the Titans' Round 7 NRL clash against the Manly Sea Eagles at Cbus Super Stadium.
