It was back to business for the iSelect Titans today as the squad kicked off training for 2014 with a gruelling session in sweltering heat on the Gold Coast.

In their first training session for 2014, the Titans were put through a 2km time trial and a testing skills session under fatigue in plus 30C degree heat and extreme humidity.

Despite the uncomfortable conditions, Coach John Cartwright was impressed with how his troops kicked off the New Year.

Among the pace setters was an unlikely suspect in towering front rower Ryan James – a man Cartwright believes is headed for a big year in 2014.

The Titans have five weeks until the club’s opening trial game against the Warriors in New Zealand on February 9.
