iSelect Titans flyer David Mead doesn’t expect to become the club’s first-choice fullback overnight, but he says spending time training in the role this pre-season has helped him add to his bag of tricks.
Mead has established a reputation as one of the best finishers in the NRL after 89 appearances in the top grade, the majority of those on the wing.
But after getting a taste of fullback last season during Will Zillman’s injury-enforced layoff, the 25-year-old said he was enjoying the chance to spend more time training in the position in the build-up to 2014.
Mead played three games at fullback and two games in the centres late last season, as he showed his versatility across the Titans’ backline.
That experience has him determined to add to his skill set, with the Papua New Guinean flyer working specifically on his fitness and his passing game.
