iSelect Titans duo David Mead and Siuatonga Likiliki gave some pointers to the next generation when they attended a training session with the Gold Coast sides who are preparing to contest this year's Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup competitions.

The Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup competitions are the Queensland under 16 and 18 equivalent to the NSW Harold Matthews and SG Ball competitions.

The Gold Coast squads have been compiled with approximately 90 of the strongest players from the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers who started preparing for their upcoming seasons last November.

After holding highly competitive trial matches, all players were split into four teams to represent Gold Coast White and Green in both age competitions for 2014.

The teams will compete in trials kicking off on February 1-2 before the opening round of the eight-week competition commencing on Saturday March 1.
