iSelect Titans injured centre Jamie Dowling was impressed with the Gold Coast team that celebrated the 50th anniversary of the under-11 schoolboys carnival with success at Helensvale junior rugby league grounds yesterday.

Competing teams came from Roma, Toowoomba, Pittsworth, Ipswich, Redcliffe and Beenleigh to take part in the hugely successful two-day carnival that first began in 1965 and has featured many players who have gone onto NRL careers.

The carnival attracts regional school teams from across Queensland. Gold Coast beat Ipswich in the final

Dowling presented trophies to all the teams and was all too happy to pose for photos and sign posters for the players.

“It's good to see all the kids out having fun and playing some footy, especially the kids that have travelled a long way to be here,” he said. Jamie will miss all of 2014 with a knee injury suffered in the first round of the Intrust Super Cup but has remained active with community events for the Titans.
