Utility forward Paul Carter has won the Titans’ rookie of the year award after an outstanding season after joining the club from the Bulldogs.

The aggressive back-rower, who began his NRL career as a hooker off the bench in round one, was honoured with the award at the Titans annual awards night at Jupiters Hotel and Casino this evening.

Carter, son of Penrith Panthers legend Steve Carter and a former Australian Schoolboys captain, was selected ahead of other first grade debutants of 2014 in Tom Kingston, Caleb Binge and Cody Nelson.

The 22-year-old unfortunatey finished the season with a shoulder injury that required major surgery but will be fit for the start of next season.
