The Gold Training Titans under-20s side is going to be strengthened by the return of the team’s leading front-rower Oshea Tuiasau and goalkicker Jed Cartwright for tonight’s clash with Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.
Coach Ben Woolf said he is pleased with the players returning from injury who will add a bit to the squad that has been lacking to find form.
“Oshea is a big fella and he carries a lot in the game, which we have been missing and Jed gives us a bit of size and good strength coming out of our end,” Woolf said.
The NYC team side put on probably its best performance of 2014 to beat a full-strength Tigers side at Leichhardt in their last visit and will be out to repeat that effort.
“That is definitely what we are looking for this week; they really went down there and competed last year and it was a big occasion, it was a really vocal crowd but the boys really stepped up,” Woolf said of the clash that featured tonight’s NRL halves Stephen Moses and Kane Elgey.
“Kane Elgey really stepped up and executed a game plan well and we got a great win down there so we will be looking for the same thing tonight from our current players.”
The Titans have started most of their matches well this season but dropped intensity either side of half-time which has been crucial. But their defensive effort and ability to worry any team has been first class in several matches, much like the Titans’ NRL side, but like them unforced errors at various times has proved costly and resulted in narrow losses.
