It was one of the most unusual ‘try-assists’ in NRL history – Eddy Pettybourne surprising the Warriors by from ‘behind’ and snatching the ball and creating a four-pointer for James Roberts.
The referees immediately went to the video but it became clear that Pettybourne came from an offside position but back 10 metres from the play the ball which put him back onside.
He snatched the pass from Manu Vatuvei and turned defence into attack … and Roberts crossed for his 14th try of the season seconds later.
