Often pictures say a lot more than words. And that is the case with our XXXX Try of the Year scored by ‘Jimmy the Jet’ James Roberts.
But the words used by the Channel 9 commentary team is also worth preserving.
“Look at the speed of the man … he is electric … wow … what a player this man is,” exuded caller Matt Thompson as James Roberts beat five players in a 40-metre diagonal run in round 23 against the Bulldogs at Central Coast Stadium.
Added Peter Sterling, a legend of the game and as astute a judge as there is: “What about that! That is just blinding speed.”
The top 10 tries of the year as judged by Titans fans were put into the mix for a final decision and this, one of three scored by Roberts in the top 10, was the overwhelming pick. And so it should have been – it was an effort words can’t adequately describe.
