Greg Bird's bird case before the NRL judiciary panel tonight via video link was unsuccessful and he will miss Saturday's clash with St George Illawarra Dragons at Cbus Super Stadium (3pm).

The Aquis Titans had argued that Bird's grade two careless high tackle charge should be downgraded to a grade one and offered comparabkle tackles as evidence.

However the three-man panel of Chris McKenna, Matt Cooper and Royce Ayliffe took less than 15 minutes of deliberation to rule the appeal for a downgrade was not justified.

Bird appeared via video link from the Titans' Bundall office with CEO Graham Annesley representing the player.

The charge came from a 17th-minute tackle on Sharks five-eighth James Maloney last Sunday.

The guilty verdict carries 175 points, which means Bird will be suspended for one match and have 75 carry over points brought forward.
