Titans Chief Operating Officer Brian Canavan this afternoon spoke with Titans TV about his decision to accept the role of Head of Football at the NRL and return to Sydney. He will take up the role in July.

Brian, who joined the Titans in January after many years at Sydney Roosters, disclosed that the opportunity only surfaced two weeks ago when he received a call from NRL Chief Executive Officer Todd Greenberg, asking him to consider his previous role.

"It was somewhat of a difficult decision for me, not so much in terms of the wonderful opportunity the role offers but in leaving the Titans which is as far as club-land goes an exciting place to be in; it's on the up and it's going places.

"The club is in good shape, in that the foundations are in place and we need to just build on those by putting the programs in place and then resourcing those programs which includes people."

On his goals in his new role, he said:

"It's very stumulating [to take the role]; I've been invigorated by more short tenure here at the Titans but to step into this more expansive role is a unique opportunity."
