The Gold Training Gold Coast under-20s team will have a tough challenge when they travel to Pepper Stadium on Sunday to take on ladder leaders Penrith.

Coach Ben Woolf will welcome back five-eighth Josh Rogers who missed the clash with the Roosters, their third successive loss, with an ankle injury.

However there was unwelcomed news in recent days confirming that back-rower Shane Wright, who played in the Auckland Nines and the NRL trial against Parramatta, requires surgery on his shoulder and will not play.

It’s disappointing news for the promising 20-year-old who played only three games in the first round because of the injury.

Coach Woolf has stuck with Tye Barry at fullback, after earlier coming into the team as a halfback, with Tyronne Roberts-Davis against playing on the wing.

They were a part of the late team change before yesterday’s game which saw Josh Ralph and Brayden McMahon debut in the halves, Barry to fullback, Roberts-Davis to the wing and Christian Mike drop back to the bench.

Those changes stay in place except for Rogers returning for Ralph.

The team is:

1-      Tye Barry

2-      Tyronne Roberts-Davis

3-      Brian Kelly

4-      Greg Leleisiuao

5-      Phillip Sami

6-      Josh Rogers
