Konrad Hurrell looks at his first match in a Titans jersey yesterday against the Parramatta Eels in Darwin.

The powerful centre had a tough time on debut, losing the defender inside him in Chris McQueen and was then forced to retire midway through the second half when his calf that had been troubling him tightened up and made it difficult to run.

He was involved early and took a hit-up in the Titans half twice in the one set as he tried to show a good work ethic in the heat.

"I'm pretty new to the boys, and that's one thing', you need to earn the respect and that was what was in my head, to go in and do a few carries," he said.

"I hadn't played in a while in the top grade but a hot day like that would put the forwards in some pain with all the defence so the outside backs had to get in there and carry the ball up.

"It was disappointing not to play the whole game because of the calf problem.

"We tried to push that one pass extra and had to do so much defene in the first half which had an impact.
