Next up in our 'Away from the game' segment we have Tyrone Roberts. Ty reveals what he enjoys doing on his days off away from the game of rugby league.

1.   Travel home

With most of my family living an hour south of the Gold Coast down in Ballina, I try to travel home as much as I can. After moving back from Newcastle towards the end of last year, it has been great to be so close to home. We also try to catch up with my cousin James (former Titan, now Bronco), his partner Anna and new born bub when our training schedules don’t conflict.

2.   Spend quality time with my own family

On our days off I love to spend time with my own family, Fiancé Britt and daughter Leilani. We like to just get out of the house, head down to the beaches or even travel down to Byron Bay for the day. We also have a couple of dogs (Ziggy and Django) which we like to take for a stroll around the local parks every now and again.

3.   Fishing

Whenever I get the chance, I don’t mind going fishing. It is definitely a large contrast to being out of the football field and just gives me time to myself. The life of a footballer is always quite fast paced so it is great to be able to relax and slow things down when we have time off.

4.   Recovery

At the moment I am investing quite a bit of my spare time on recovery as I have currently injured my knee and am doing my best to push out quite a few recovery sessions to assist me into returning to the field as soon as possible.
