The True Titans award in the NYC was won by five-eighth Rogers, who had to come through the pre-season trials to make the team.

The Perth rugby league product, who moved to the Gold Coast to play in the Burleigh Bears Colts side in 2015, was the chef playmaker in Woolf’s side and showed a steady head.

“Josh’s story is such a good one; he came out of the open trial and started every single game when he wasn’t injured,” Woolf said.

“He is a great student of the game, a smart footballer, has a good ability to stick to game plan and execute game plan. He showed a good steady head, good kicking game and good defender.

“He really became a backbone of the team and worked hard on improving his game.”
