Ash Taylor’s first NRL try, which gave him a double celebration just three days after his 21st birthday, has been chosen as the Titans’ try of the year.

And he could certainly thank the brilliant footwork of left centre Josh Hoffman for the title.

In a tremendous second-half comeback in round three against Wests Tigers, which saw the Titans fight back from 10-0 down to win 30-18, Taylor took a pass from prop Luke Douglas in a set move and turned Hoffman ‘under’ with an inside ball just inside the Tigers’ half.

Hoffman’s left step and accelerations saw him pierce the Tigers’ defensive line and he veered to his left and picked up Taylor who ran 10 metres unopposed to put himself on the NRL try-scoring list for the first time in what proved a magnificent season for him.

The try was chosen online by Titans fans who had to vote on the top 10 tries, selected from our weekly nominations.
