New 2017 Aquis Gold Coast Titans recruit Dan Sarginson finished his English Super League career on a high over the weekend, winning the title with the Wigan Warriors 12-6 over the Warrington Wolves.

Sarginson was a standout playing at fullback, where he has replaced the injured Sam Tomkins over the past month and set up the final try for his winger Josh Charnley shortly after the hour mark, that proved to be the difference.

After the match Sarginson spoke about his time at Wigan and also looked ahead to his challenge when he comes to Australia.

“What a way to go out,” he said. “It’s been a tough three years here with plenty of ups and downs but to go out there tonight (Sunday morning our time) and do what we did, it’s the best way to leave.”

A clear ploy by the Wolves was to attack the Warriors with plenty of high ball on their final tackle options and Sarginson admitted he did feel the pressure throughout the match.

“I did feel the pressure prior to the match. I had plenty of chats with Sam (Tomkins) through the week and we knew that the high balls would come.”

Now that his Wigan career is over, the 23-year-old is excited about the opportunity that presents itself here in Australia.

“I’m really looking forward to getting over to Australia and trying to prove a point over there. If an England jersey comes before that, I’d love it, but that’s out of my control and I just have to wait until the squad is announced.”
