Winger Anthony Don has returned for 2017 keen and eager to rip into training as the trials and Auckland Nines approach.

Don and his fellow team mates are using the confidence gained out of 2016 as fire in their belly to drive them to progress further this season.

“There is definitely a lot more confidence within the group this time around,” he said. “It was a good year last year and we’ve got the same ambitions this year to qualify for the finals, as a minimum.”

In order to perform at the top level though, the hard work needs to be put in now and the 29-year-old is well aware of that.

“We’re stoked to be back. Everyone went away and spent time with their family but it’s good to be back all in one spot.

“We’ve got a few tough weeks ahead of us before the trials so we’re looking forward to ripping in.”

Whilst the Grafton Ghosts junior didn’t finish the season in the top grade, he has a pretty simple ambition for season 2017.

“I just want to cement my spot in first grade, so hopefully I can play each game of the season and stay injury free.”
