NYC Coach Ben Woolf has spoken to Titans TV ahead of the trip south to take on the Newcastle Knights on Saturday morning.
The young Titans went down to the Roosters, 38-24, in round one and whilst the side looked good in attack, it’s defensively that the coach has his concerns.
“We weren’t great on the weekend,” Woolf said. “I think our effort was down and defensively in the middle we struggled.
“We leaked a bit in the middle and it’ll be something that we work on this week.
“We showed that when we hold on to the ball though we can do some good things.”
After getting his first official look at his side in action, Woolf has also made a couple of changes to his side ahead of the Knights clash.
“A few of the boys that came off the bench (Reihana Marsh and Moeaki Fotuiaka) were strong and their performances warranted starting spots.”
Whilst it’s usually a flight down and back in one day, the young Titans will stay the night prior in Newcastle.
“We get a flight the night before to go to Newcastle as there aren’t many out of the Gold Coast. When you can get a night away I think it’s good for the group.
“You know the preparation is right and they’ve had a good night’s rest.”
The Knights were one of the most impressive sides in round one, defeating the Warriors 48-10.
“They looked really good, good enthusiasm, used the ball well and played some second phase play. They’re definitely going to be a handful this week.”
