The Aquis Gold Coast Titans are pleased to confirm the signing of Brendan Elliot, from the Newcastle Knights, for one season, through until the end of 2018.
The 23-year-old has spent the last 18 months with the Knights, where he played 23 matches across the positions of wing, centre and fullback. Prior to his time in the Hunter, the Runaway Bay junior played 14 matches for the Sydney Roosters where he first debuted in Round 17 of season 2014.
Elliot moved away from his Gold Coast home at the end of High School and is excited about the opportunity to come home.
“I can’t wait,” Elliot said. “All my family and friends are there and as my partner is from the Gold Coast as well, we can’t wait to get back there.
Having spent 2017 in and out of the NRL side in Newcastle, Elliot is looking forward to working towards cementing a permanent first grade spot at the Titans.
“That’s definitely part of the reason (to come to the Titans). It’s a really good opportunity and I’ll be looking to get some more minutes in the NRL.
“It’s good to have that versatility (across positions) but I would love to be able to lock down one spot. I don’t really have a preference, I’d just like to string a number of games together in the one position if I can.
Titans Chief Operating Officer Tony Mestrov is glad to see another local product looking for an opportunity back in his local region.
“Brendan has been away from home for a number of years and from my discussions with his manager, he’s really excited about what he could achieve here at the Titans,” Mestrov said.
“He’ll add some much needed depth to our backline and the fact that he is more than capable across three positions gives us some options as well.”
Elliot will join the full-time training squad when pre-season training commences in early November.
