New recruit Brendan Elliot has returned home for a chance at the Gold Coast Titans and is excited about the year ahead.

The Runaway Bay junior moved away from home at a young age and after stints at the Roosters and Knights, the 23-year-old believes being back at home in familiar environment, may actually be the turning point to get the best footy out of him.

“I’m staying back at my parents’ house for now but I’m really excited to be back home and I’m really excited about the year ahead,” he said.

“It happened late (the contract offer) and I wasn’t even sure what I was going to be doing at my last game for the Knights but when the Titans gave me an offer it was exciting.

“My partner and I were really keen to come back.”

Elliot has played 37 matches at NRL level and spent time across centre, wing and fullback but he is hopeful to secure one of those spots to make his own.

“I really don’t mind which position I play but I would love to secure one of those spots so I can continue to grow.”

“I’ve spoken with Garth and he just wants me to be energetic and enthusiastic in everything I do. So that’s what I’ll be doing.”

With a host of local products already at the club and the likes of Jai Whitbread, Jai Arrow and himself returning home, Elliot believes there is a good vibe amongst the group.

“I’m getting to know everyone but there are a host of us that are from the area and are now representing our home town. It definitely sparks a bit of fire deep in your belly, you want to play for the Gold Coast and you want to play for the Gold Coast Titans.”
