BRENNAN: I believe they'll be there

Two of the important pieces of the 2018 player puzzle are continuing their rehabilitation with both Nathan Peats and Michael Gordon looking likely to be ready for round one.

Peats missed the last match of the season with an early appointment with the surgeon for a shoulder operation but is completing all aspects of training apart from the defensive drills.

“He’s ahead of schedule and we’re working towards the last trial match,” Head Coach Garth Brennan said. “If he’s not available for the trial, I believe he’ll be there in round one.”

New recruit Michael Gordon is another who went under the knife prior to arriving at the club but all indications are that he’ll be ready to go, come season kick-off.

Gordon has made an immediate impact since arriving at the club with many noticing what he brings to the table.

“It was a massive part of the attraction (of bringing him to the club),” Brennan added. “One, he’s a local junior coming home and two, his experience and professionalism, his conduct on and off the field.

“Having him here is a massive boost for us.”
