New recruit Bryce Cartwright has today spoken for the first time in 12 months and opened up about how much Head Coach Garth Brennan has supported him through what has been a tough period.

After what was an up and down 2017, Cartwright is just happy to be on the Gold Coast and back alongside Brennan.

“I owe a huge amount to Garth,” Cartwright said. “I’ve known him since I was 16/17 and we have a close relationship.

“I can’t thank him enough.

“It’s been a very difficult 12 months but I have a great support network. I’ve got the best mum and dad, a great younger brother, a beautiful partner and a new son.

The 23-year-old reported for his first session as a Titan today and was excited about the next stage of his career.

“It’s lovely to be here and whilst it’s been a hectic couple of days getting everything sorted, it’s good to be here,” Cartwright said.

“It’s a good young team and looks like a good bunch of blokes. Garth showed me around yesterday and the place here is awesome.”

Probably one of the most pressing points for members and fans is where Cartwright will take his place on the field.

“I probably prefer lock, especially the way Brenno's (Garth) structure works. That free-roaming type role so I’m not restricted to an edge.

“There are some good back rowers and locks, so it’ll be a good test.”
