White Ribbon kicks off State Conference with visit to Titans High Performance Centre

For the past 5 years, the TFH Gold Coast Titans have proudly supported White Ribbon, hosting conference delegates as special guests for a mid-week training session.

Chairman of the White Ribbon Queensland Committee, Chiu-Hing Chan, showed appreciation for his fellow ambassadors, advocates and supporters, as well as the Gold Coast Titans, by including a mid-week training session into their conference schedule.

"In the next couple of days, we've got our state conference where a lot of the conference delegates from right around Queensland will be converging in Brisbane."

"We are also of course using today as an opportunity to get some of our delegates to visit our important partner The Gold Coast Titans. It's a fantastic chance to get both the stakeholders involved."

During his visit, Chan also spoke highly of the work the Gold Coast Titans have been doing in regional areas of Queensland.

"Some of the most important work in domestic violence prevention is out in the regional areas, and of course, recognizing the Titan's work out in those areas."

"The Gold Coast Titans are one of the rare partners that we have who actually actively engage with our regional communities."

"Apart from working fabulously with our local committees out in Toowoomba, and also with our supporters up in Gladstone, the Gold Coast Titans have also been actively promoting domestic violence prevention and engaging with the general community, as well as promoting gender equality and respectful relationships. Their work has been amazing."

White Ribbon advocate and Behaviour Management Coordinator at Varsity College, Suzee Dearlove, attended the training session alongside Chan speaking of the benefits of the campaign and its Breaking the Silence Program.

"I've been involved with White Ribbon for three years, I am a White Ribbon advocate, and Varsity College is also a White Ribbon school, so we've been implementing the Breaking the Silence Program."

"The Breaking the Silence Program has been fantastic for our students."

"It teaches them about respect, respectful relationships, respect for each other, respect for teachers and everyone else in the community."

Dearlove also thanked the Gold Coast Titans for their involvement in promoting and implanting both the White Ribbon campaign and Breaking the Silence Program at Varsity College.

"The Gold Coast Titans have been really good role models."

"Being a Gold Coast team, students will really listen to what they have to say about respect, team work, collaboration and working together."
