Fullback Michael Gordon has noticed a refreshed and ready squad for the run home in the 2018 season.

Coach Garth Brennan gave his troops five days break last week during the bye week and Gordon, amongst others, took full advantage of the rest days.

"For me it was perfect," Gordon said. "I got away to Fiji with the family for a few days.

"It's just as much a mental break, as it is physical which is enormous.

"It's a long stretch home now so any rest is gold. We've certainly come back ready to go."

A last start victory over the Bulldogs has given the group some confidence and the 34-year-old believes it was a performance that they have been building towards.

"I feel like we've been building well over the last month. Some of the results haven't gone our way just with some of our lapses during games.

"During the Dogs game we didn't really let them into it so we need to build on that for the rest of the year."
