The annual Titans NAIDOC week event was held yesterday at Firth Park, Mudgeeraba, with more than 1500 people in attendance enjoying everything the day had to offer.

With the support of Deadly Choices and Kalwun, over 70 stall holders were in attendance across health, well-being and a range of different community groups represented.

As well as the fantastic health and well-being message, there was plenty for the kids to do throughout the day.

The theme for 2018 NAIDOC week was 'Because of her we can' which is about celebrating the indigenous women that came before us, that are here now and we will have in the future.

Halfback Ash Taylor was in attendance for a lot of the day and knows it is one of the most important weeks of the year.

"We're here to recognise all of our aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people and to make sure we don't forget about our ancestors," he said.

"It's about embracing your culture and bringing everyone together. Also looking after their well-being. You've got to check your health checked. It's great to partner with Kalwun and Deadly Choices."
Forward Leilani Latu was also in attendance and being his first NAIDOC week on the Gold Coast, was impressed with what he saw.

"It's great that everyone can come together and people can celebrate their culture," he said.

"It's a strong message being spread this year and I certainly wouldn't be who I am today without my mother and now my beautiful wife who is beside me every day."
