Titans veteran Michael Gordon is today finishing up after his week on the tools but believes the time away from the training paddock has been extremely beneficial not only for him, but the entire squad.
Whilst Gordon is entering his 15th pre-season at the highest level, he has never done anything like this as part of pre-season training. And whilst his week has been spent as a chippy (carpenter), he believes he may leave it to the experts when his footy career comes to an end.
"I've found it to be unreal," Gordon said. "It's good to see professionals in other trades doing their job and I like to see guys working and learning from them.
"Anytime you can learn from others you need to take that opportunity to learn a new skill and I'll take something from this.
"Safe to say I'll be steering clear of the manual labour though."
Coach Garth Brennan couldn't have chosen a better week either with the sun shining and the heat causing some concern for the players out on various job sites.
"The sun was out and the heat was the biggest thing. We were up in Brisbane shifting frames, up a few levels so it was pretty hot."
