Gold Coast coach Garth Brennan was left to rue more injury blows and a couple of contentious calls in the wake of a 28-14 loss to the Cowboys in Townsville on Friday night.
Brennan indicated he'll be seeking clarification on the no-try decision in the 25th minute which saw a spectacular Tyrone Peachey four-pointer cancelled out by the Bunker for interference by Phil Sami on Jake Granville.
Granville came into contact with Sami while trying to chase down Peachey and the ruling was that the Titans winger had pushed the Cowboys hooker off his line and denied him a shot at getting to Peachey.
“I'll be speaking to Bernie Sutton and Graham Annesley, that's for sure," Brennan said.
"Jake Granville instigated contact. He actually reached out and grabbed Phil Sami. Is he supposed to not push him away? That should’ve been a try.
Brennan questions crucial calls
“If that try goes our way we're back to 12-10 and we've got the wind in our sails and coming back to build some pressure on the Cowboys."
Brennan also believed the John Asiata try in the 68th minute which extended the Cowboys' lead to eight points should have been sent to the video ref to check.
“I was at a coaches' meeting earlier in the year and they said if you catch it on the inside of the lead runner then it's no try," he said.
"Asiata caught it on the inside of Gavin Cooper and they let it play on and they didn't even bother checking it.
“Kevin Proctor asked the referee and he said 'we determine whether how much impact’s involved'. That's not what I was told in the coaches' meeting.
"It's frustrating. They check one that goes against us and then one that they should check they decide not to and that hurts."
Already under the pump without Ryan James and Dale Copley, the Titans lost veteran fullback Michael Gordon after three minutes to a head knock and had Sami and Tyrone Roberts also leave the field injured.

“I'm really proud of our performance with the injuries we had," Brennan said.
"The first half probably hurt us a little bit with some forced passes and not building pressure but we came out in the second half, we built some pressure and we got back in the game.
“Phil Sami's another one that showed some courage and some determination to stay out there, the poor guy was on one leg. But we'd already lost Michael Gordon, lost our outside back replacement, and he toughed it out."
