Titans CEO Steve Mitchell will sleep rough to help those doing it tough as part of the Annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout, which is happening across Australia on 20 June.
The Titans are committed to our local community, and Steve is living that mantra by joining business, community and government leaders around the country in raising money for Vinnies’ support programs for the homeless.
Titans fans can donate money to support Steve’s fundraising efforts, with all the money raised helping Vinnies to break the cycle of homelessness, and to offer support to the people and families who no longer have a home to call their own.
Last year, a record $6.9 million was raised, allowing Vinnies to provide support services like food vans, and emergency access to accommodation and assistance for families that need it the most.
While braving the chilly air of a Gold Coast winter’s night will be a challenging experience, Steve said the Vinnies CEO Sleepout was another opportunity for the Titans to give back to the community that supports the club.
“I think everyone that lives on the Gold Coast is truly thankful for being able to live in one of the great cities of the world, but we should all remember that not everyone in our community is as fortunate as others,” he said.
“We are a great city and a great community, but that does not make us immune from the problems of homelessness. Just like every other city, we have members of our community who don’t know where they will be sleeping each night.
“It is a confronting thought when you think there are people, including families, in our community that do not have the adequate shelter that so many of us are fortunate enough to take for granted.
“The Titans are a club that exists to make a difference to our community, and by supporting the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, we can ensure that Vinnies can continue their great work in assisting those affected by homelessness to get back on their feet again.”
