TEDS Academy co-ordinator Matt Srama is thrilled with the talent on show at the clubs inaugural Under 12’s Titans experience day.

Players from all Gold Coast junior rugby league clubs along with, the Northern Rivers and Brisbane attended the one day clinic, twithTitans staff providing each child with an exclusive look at a day in the life of an NRL player.

“It was a day to give them an experience of what it’s like to be a Titan,” Srama said.

“Every junior club nominated three players, you know, not always the best kid, it was basically effort, on field performance and off field performance”

The south-coast representative team also attended the day, providing another group of aspiring players with an opportunity to train as a Titan for the day.

“We were really lucky and fortunate enough to have the whole Under-12s south-coast team who made the grand final and it ended up a draw up at the State titles, so (we were) lucky to have them here as well”

75 kids took part in the day which was supported by the Gold Coast Old Boys association, Srama saying it was a great day for the club.

“They did a bit of skills and drills, they got a tour of the facility, even the parents as well. We even took them for a bit of an ice bath and a bit of a recovery session.

“The kids were really lucky to experience that, not many kids their age get that experience so, a lot of squealing, but it was a bit of fun and a bit of fun for them.”

When questioned on whether he believed there were any future Titans in the group, Srama was full of optimism.

“You never know.Hopefully with what we have seen out there, I am sure there is a few, but it is up to them, we have got the pathway to provide them with the opportunity, and it’s up to them if they make it or not.”

The Titans are already planning their second Titans experience day, as interest in the clubs junior programs and pathways continue to produce promising results across the region.
