Titans leader Kevin Proctor will bring valuable experience to a new-look Kiwi squad after being named in a powerful New Zealand side for the World Cup Nines in Sydney.
Proctor was rewarded for a strong and consistent season for the Titans with another black jersey and, just like he did with the Gold Coast in 2019, the 30-year will be relied on to provide leadership for a very youthful Kiwis squad.
Kiwis coach Michael Maguire has included six new faces in the 16-man squad, which also includes former Titan Jordan Rapana and Cronulla’s former Gold Coast junior Briton Nikora
“This is a hugely exciting opportunity for the whole group playing in the World Cup Nines,” Maguire said.
“I’m especially excited for the new players we’ve been able to bring into the group.
“We’ve got players right across this squad who have come off terrific NRL seasons and have earned the privilege to represent New Zealand.
“For us, this is another step towards taking the Kiwi jersey to the place we want it to be.”
The New Zealand World Cup Nines squad assembles in Sydney next Monday.
