Titans Head Coach Justin Holbrook says he is here to help Ash Taylor regain the form that made him one of the NRL’s top halfbacks – but has been most impressed by how the Gold Coast No.7 has been helping himself during the pre-season.

After a difficult 2019 dealing with personal issues and a subsequent drop in confidence and form, Taylor looks to be relaxed, refreshed and relishing his first pre-season under Holbrook.

Teammates, coaches and onlookers have all come away impressed with Taylor’s approach to pre-season training, with the 24-year-old looking fit and sharp, and showing signs of his brilliant best with the ball in his hand.

Holbrook discusses Arrow decision

Holbrook said he could not fault Taylor’s preparations for the 2020 season, with the new coach impressed by the quality of work being delivered by the entire squad.

“I’ve been really happy with Ash straight away,” Holbrook said.

“He’s been applying himself well to everything he’s done with his training. We all know how talented he is, but you’ve got to work hard. Along with the others, he’s going very well.

“I made it clear I’m here to help him and I want him to play as good as he can just as much as everyone else does.

“It’s my job to help him achieve that but he’s got help himself’ and he’s doing that – and doing it really well.”
