Fotuaika charged by Match Review Committee

Prop forward Moeaki Fotuaika has today been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee (MRC) with a Grade 1 – Dangerous Contact offence.

The MRC this morning handed down the charge for contact that occurred on Eels halfback Mitchell Moses in the 30th minute of play.

The charge comes with a base penalty of 100 points but due to a ‘prior similar offence’ in the past two years, the base for Fotuaika is 112 points.

If the New Zealand-born prop takes the early guilty plea he will miss one match. If he chooses to fight the charge and succeeds he will be free to play and if he loses he’ll still only miss one match.

In other news from the match, Eels lock forward Nathan Brown face a potential two-match suspension for his late tackle on winger Dale Copley. If Brown takes the early guilty plea, he will miss just the one match.
