Don's Recipe for Titans Improvement

Titans winger Anthony Don says there is a simple recipe for improvement for the Gold Coast side that takes on the top of the table Panthers this week.

“We need to work on our ball control, our completion rate and our kick finishes and hopefully that’ll keep us in the game,” Don said.

After a defeat to Melbourne on the Sunshine Coast, Don says the young Titans squad has taken the lesson in their stride and will be ready to challenge the Panthers when NRL returns to Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday.

“They (Melbourne) played a game that we’d love to do to other teams,” Don said.

“I felt like their big game experience really helped guide them around, especially from (Cameron) Smith …. they’ve got a lot of Origin experience but that’s no excuse for how we played.

“We played well in patches in the first half, but we just kept knocking the ball on, handing the ball over, giving penalties away to let them control the game.

“If we make half as many errors as we did on the weekend, we will be under a lot of pressure, so it is something that we’ve just got to stop doing.”

“We know we want to move the ball, we don’t just want to take six hit ups and then kick it because that becomes predictable.

“It’s a fine balance between moving the ball around and making the opposition teamwork and keeping the completion rate nice and high.”
